Social Media Screening

As social media usage has spiked significantly over the course of the past year, many employers are turning to social media screening, which can uncover relevant issues quickly and cost effectively.

As hiring processes have pivoted to accommodate the changing times, employers have increasingly benefited from having this extra layer of insight into their candidates and employees.

By coupling Social Media Screening with traditional background checks, employers have a higher chance of identifying individuals who could easily harm a company's productivity and brand.

Top five types of social media content that had a negative effect on potential employers:
46% Provocative or inappropriate photographs, videos or information
43% Information about candidate drinking or using drugs
33% Discriminatory comments related to race, religion, gender, etc
31% Candidate bad-mouthing previous company or fellow employees
29% Pattern of poor communication skills

The national survey was conducted online by Harris Poll on behalf of CareerBuilder between February 10 and March 17, 2016, and included a representative sample of 2,186 hiring managers and human resource professionals and 3,031 full time, US workers in the private sector across industries and company sizes.
