I-9 or E-Verify?

Don’t be confused; all employers must complete the Form I-9 for all new hires. E-Verify is an add-on used by employers to confirm the eligibility of an employee to work in the United States. It is not a substitute for the Form I-9 ...

I-9 or E-Verify? It’s Not an Either / Or Requirement

The number of I-9 Audits is on the rise and, with an error rate of 76%, the cost of the ensuing penalties can be burdensome and range from $200 to $2,000 per violation – that’s per violation not per Form I-9!

Take the Worry, Time, and Stress out of Your Form I-9 Management and Use CIC’s Electronic I-9.

Our Electronic I-9 is part of our screening software, so it is easy to access as part of your onboarding process. You can get ahead of the game and email Part One to your applicant for completion. Once they complete it, it will be pulled back into the system and be available to you for completion of Part Two on your new hire’s first day of employment.

You and your new employee will be guided through the completion of each step of the Form I-9. There are failsafes in place so that you will not be able to proceed to the next step without completing the previous step. In addition, if your new hire does not have all of his documents with him, the system will keep track of any open I-9s and remind you that there are documents that need action. You will also be alerted when there are documents that are expiring and need updating.

If you are an employer who is required to use E-Verify, CIC, as your Authorized Employer Agent, can run E-Verify for you. Once that is set up, when you order the I-9, the E-Verify will run automatically upon completion of the I-9. The documentation provided by your new hire when completing the I-9 is pulled into the E-Verify system and results are reported back into the screening system for you to review.

Keep in mind that employers must retain a record of all E-Verify results for 3 years, or the duration of employee’s employment, whichever is longer. As the results are part of an order in our screening system, they will always be there for you to access if necessary.
