We have assisted clients by managing security before, during and after business closings, a process that takes much thought and planning to insure safety. We help clients evaluate threatening letters, emails and phone calls and provide recommendations based on the level of the threat.
In today’s business climate CIC Investigators are involved in assisting our clients during terminations. Employees being terminated are always treated with respect and we help to recover their personal belongings and assist them to their vehicles. Proper planning and tactics make sure that we all go home safely after the termination. CIC investigators will provide security at a business for a period of time if the conduct of the terminated employee at the termination warrants it. When you are faced with an act of violence in your workplace, would you know what to do? Workplace violence is real and it can happen to you! Whether the threat is from the outside or inside, you must have a plan in place so that every one of your employees has a fair chance of surviving. This takes planning, training and practice.
CIC has been investigating threats and assaults in the workplace since our inception in 1977. Based on our experience, we believe that it is essential for every company to develop a plan of action to follow if confronted with an active shooter situation or another form of workplace violence.
Do not take the cookie cutter approach to developing your plan. A manufacturing facility, an office building, a hospital, a mall, a convenience store, a bank, a school or university, a theatre; all are potential targets, each has their own dynamic . We believe that a solid plan is made up of several components, each designed for your unique situation. Develop your plan, train your employees and practice the plan just like you would for a fire or severe weather event.
Identifying areas of vulnerability is part of the planning process. It is surprising what a trained observer can pick up during a tour of your facility. Our investigators, along with your team, can identify areas of physical vulnerability and develop a proactive plan of action specifically for your facility.
Training employees on how to identify possible threats, know who to report them to and how to react in a violent situation is essential. You want to give your employees every chance of surviving. Knowing what warning signs to look for, what triggers to avoid, how to manage your emotions and how to assess the situation and determine whether to run, hide, or fight, are all important parts of the training.
Practice is the final piece to the plan. This is the practical application of all the planning and training that has taken place so far. Being aware of your surroundings and reacting quickly to any given situation is key to increasing chances of survival. Whether you are at your workstation or in the break room, you must know what your options are; what are the evacuation routes, where are the best places to hide, and what are your “fight” possibilities. Visualization and practice are essential to being prepared and equipped with the tools to help you make the crucial decisions needed in a highly emotional situation.
If you have a product or service to sell, you and your organization are at risk of being victimized by corporate espionage and information theft.
It happens to large and small organizations alike. In fact, 40 percent of all U.S. businesses have reported intellectual property losses. And, the average loss due to corporate espionage over a two-year period is over $4 million.
An organization can lose proprietary information through a simple incident such as someone rummaging through its trash. The greater loss might occur through the loss of a mobile device, tablet or laptop computer. More sophisticated means of corporate espionage and information theft is also prevalent, including the planting of radio frequency transmitters and phone taps.
Corporate Intelligence Consultants has invested in sophisticated electronic equipment and training with the industry’s best. Steven R. Cotner, CIC president, has actively conducted technical electronic countermeasure surveys for the last 35 years. Each member of CIC’s corporate investigations team has more than 25 years of experience in security management and more than 15 years experience in electronic countermeasures.
In today's global marketplace, Corporate espionage is a real threat and becoming more prevalent every year. The use of electronic surveillance devices to secretly intercept communications can yield highly sensitive information. In the wrong hands, this information can have devastating effects that are often impossible to recover from. The key when it comes to Electronic Eavesdropping Detection is to be proactive. The threat is real, the downside is huge!
Corporate Intelligence Consultants has invested in state-of-the-art equipment and training to detect bugs and taps. Even a simple baby room monitor can be hidden with relative ease and can transmit undetected for years. Trained by the experts at Ross Engineering, Dektor Counterintelligence and Security, and Research Electronics International, our lead investigators have provided CIC's Electronic Countermeasure Service to Fortune 100 companies, law firms, hospitals, school boards, police departments, prosecuting attorneys, judges, and politicians who want to ensure the confidentiality of their communications in critical areas.
CIC’s trained and experienced investigators recommend annual inspections as well as inspections immediately prior to critical meetings. If you have an important meeting scheduled or you feel that confidential information has been leaked, remove yourself from the area of concern and contact CIC on a secure telephone line. Our experts will advise you on the steps you need to take to secure your facility from the threat of bugs and taps.
While it is best to plan for unpleasant events, in today's economy it is hard to plan for contingencies. CIC's professional team has been involved in managing potentially violent terminations for decades.
Ever since the term, going postal was coined, our corporate clients have taken terminations a lot more seriously. We prepare for the unpleasant event by making sure that we evaluate what is going on in the lives of the people who we have to help exit gracefully. We try to be understanding of the emotions of the people being let go. We genuinely want to help them leave with as little embarrassment as possible while being mindful that our priority is the security of our clients and ourselves.
We will evaluate with our clients how the short meeting went and how the employees exited the building. If they have personal property that will be delivered the following day by us. This gives our investigative professional an opportunity to evaluate the demeanor and attitude of the individuals who have just lost their jobs. We will make plans for providing additional trained security at the facility for a period of time. We also consult with our clients as Security Managers, making recommendations for security staffing and strategies.
As active members of the American Society for Industrial Security for over 36 years, Corporate Intelligence Consultants has developed a network of security professionals around the world that can assist us with our clients' specialized needs regarding staff downsizing and difficult terminations. Please call us to discuss, in confidence, what your concerns are.
